Cotuit's quiet sliver of bay-side sand and kayak launch
A tiny, quiet beach on Old Shore Road in Cotuit. No facilities, no fanfare — just a sliver of sand on Cotuit Bay for residents who want a peaceful escape.
Ropes Beach is barely a beach by Cape Cod standards — a sliver of sand at the end of Old Shore Road in Cotuit village where the local kayak and small-boat launch slips into Cotuit Bay. There are maybe a dozen parking spots, sticker-only, and no facilities at all: no lifeguards, no restrooms, no showers. What it has is unbroken quiet, protected bay water, a clear west-facing view for sunset over Sampson's Island, and a couple of weathered Adirondack chairs that the village association keeps stocked. Locals use it for sunrise paddles, after-dinner sunsets, and the occasional dip when Loop Beach is too crowded. Bring everything you need and stay only as long as your sticker is honored.
