Pleasant Road Beach

Harwich, Massachusetts · Nantucket Sound

The reliable Harwich family beach

A well-maintained Nantucket Sound beach in Harwich Port. Warm water, good facilities, and easy access from Route 28. A reliable family beach option.

Pleasant Road sits between Bank Street and Earle Road on Harwich's south shore, splitting the difference: bigger and better-equipped than Earle, less hectic than Bank Street. The lot is decent-sized with both sticker and daily-fee spots, the bathhouse has proper restrooms and outdoor showers, and a snack truck often parks here on summer weekends. The beach itself is a wide, gently sloping crescent of warm sound water — calm enough for tentative swimmers and shallow enough to walk out fifty yards before the water tops your waist. Great paddleboard launch when winds are light. From here it's a five-minute drive (or fifteen-minute walk along the bike path) to downtown Harwich Port for ice cream and lunch. A solid all-around family pick that doesn't try to be anything but a comfortable warm-water beach day.
