Quiet Dennis Port sound-side neighborhood beach
One of Dennis Port's many small neighborhood beaches on Nantucket Sound. Warm water, easy access, and a true locals' spot.
Glendon Road Beach is one of half a dozen small neighborhood beaches strung along Dennis Port's Nantucket Sound shoreline, each separated by a few hundred yards of dune and beach grass. Most visitors who flock to the Cape's bay side never realize how warm the sound water gets in Dennis Port — by mid-August it routinely tops 74°F, considerably warmer than the bay beaches across town. Glendon's parking lot holds maybe a dozen cars and serves primarily the renters and homeowners in the immediate streets. There are no lifeguards, no concessions, no restrooms. What you get is a small wedge of soft sand, calm sound water with very low surf, and the unselfconscious feel of a beach where everyone knows everyone. If you've rented a cottage in Dennis Port, this is probably your beach.
